Inteliqua Develops Structured International Expansion Plan

Inteliqua is a leader in AI-driven marketing technology. It is focused on revolutionising how brands connect with their customers. Inteliqua's mission is to help businesses boost repeat sales and build brand loyalty by improving the customer experience through AI and data insights.

Inteliqua was established in Athens, Greece, in 2022 by founders, including CEO Vagelis Karalis, who brought extensive experience dating back to 2004. Recognising a gap in the Greek market for effective CRM solutions, they aimed to help retail and B2C companies better understand their customers and behaviours.

Their innovative platform, Eliqua.CX is built on AWS cloud infrastructure and empowers brands to develop strong first-party data, deliver personalised data-driven experiences, and ultimately increase profitability by fostering customer loyalty.

With a presence in eight countries across two vibrant regions, South-Eastern Europe and the Middle East, Inteliqua has supported various businesses in achieving customer-centric success. Recently, the company partnered with global growth consultancy Think & Grow and the AWS Passport Program to expand its services and international reach.

Opportunity

The Inteliqua team believes that the future of marketing lies at the intersection of advanced technology and genuine human connections, and they are dedicated to leading this movement.

By providing tools, methodologies, and strategies, Inteliqua enables retail and consumer goods brands to better understand their visitors and turn them into loyal customers. This fosters deeper connections and engagement while helping brands design personalised customer experiences that drive revenue growth through tailored communications and offers.

As a leader in the Greek market, Inteliqua is now focused on international expansion. Operating from a smaller market like Greece poses unique challenges, such as limited resources and funding opportunities, compared to larger markets like the UK or Uthe S. Additionally, CEO Vagelis Karalis acknowledges that successful entry into new markets requires a deep understanding of market potential local dynamics, decision-making processes, and regulations, which vary significantly by region.

Inteliqua’s initial steps into international markets were facilitated by existing customers in Greece who expanded into Bulgaria, Romania, and the Middle East. This approach allowed Inteliqua to support clients in new markets, gaining a foothold before actively pursuing broader business development opportunities.

Solution

The AWS local office in Athens recommended the AWS Passport Program to support expansion efforts, which Inteliqua decided to join. Inteliqua believed the program could accelerate its expansion, bring a structured approach to local knowledge, and help reduce the risk of costly mistakes when entering new markets, which can be critical.

Inteliqua received customised resources and organised support during the program to enhance its global growth efforts. The Think & Grow workshop encouraged the team to step back and view the "big picture" rather than focusing solely on day-to-day tasks. This perspective shift enabled them to prioritise better and plan their next steps.

One pivotal moment occurred during an interactive session when team members identified discrepancies in their presentation of the company. This realisation highlighted the importance of internal alignment, particularly among C-level executives.

One of the key challenges Inteliqua faced was the lack of local market knowledge when entering new regions. The Passport program is a way to tap into that local expertise and understanding to support our expansion.” Vagelis Karalis, CEO and Co-Founder, Inteliqua

Outcome

Building on its successful collaboration with AWS, the Passport Program has offered Inteliqua the guidance and framework to create a structured go-to-market strategy for new regions. The company is working closely with the AWS team to refine its product roadmap and incorporate strategic components into its solutions. This collaboration allows Inteliqua to leverage AWS’s advanced AI infrastructure, enabling the faster introduction of new features and solutions to the market without building everything from scratch.

The Think & Grow session also enabled Inteliqua to step back, align the team, and craft a detailed expansion plan with specific tasks and timelines for expansion. This plan was instrumental in revising their 3-year business strategy, which was presented to investors to support funding for international growth plans.

CEO Vagelis Karalis is particularly excited about Inteliqua's ability to deliver positive customer experiences and "happy moments" for consumers, not just locally in Greece but globally. He anticipates that the upcoming AI-powered solutions Inteliqua plans to introduce in 2025 will significantly benefit the businesses they serve.

“The Passport program helped us finalise a structured 3-year business plan for our international expansion. This plan was then used to secure our investors' approvals to start executing our expansion strategy.” Vagelis Karalis, CEO and Co-Founder, Inteliqua
